Obsessions and compulsions

We provide therapy for patients faced with obsessive and compulsive disorders, helping them to set free from their obsessive ideas and repetitive behaviors.

One talks of obsessive disorders when a person cannot get rid of a series of recurring thoughts and related emotions. The person is often like "possessed" by an idea or a set of ideas that he/she cannot control. Among obsessive disorders, one finds, for example, pathological doubt, paranoia, hypochondria and excessive jealousy.

One specific category of such disorders are referred to as obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD). One talks about OCD when the persons respond to their obsessions with repetitive, often ritualised behaviors. Those rituals, which often help calming the person's obsessions, sometimes end up taking such a space in the person's life that they become a problem. Within OCDs, one finds, for example, compulsions to check, to wash, to repeat formulas or gestures, to count, etc...
